World day of Anti-Human Trafficking
Today, the world marks the match and fight against Human Trafficking.
How can we explain our fellow human beings with flesh and blood like ours being battered? How can we explain fellow humans been robbed off their human dignity? How can a human be used for the advantage of the others? Who could ever believe that the world will some day change that humans no longer hear the deep groaning of fellow humans.
We have lost the understanding of the image of God in us. What has gone wrong?
Trafficking happens either as:
Sexual exploitation
Labour exploitation or Forced labour
Forced criminality
Organ harvesting
Domestic servitude
Forced marriage.
Women, young girls and even boys are taken against their wish and expectations to live as sex-workers. They must sleep with lots of men for cash which does not go straight as their earnings but handed over to their traffickers. The trauma our fellow humans go through out of rape and inhuman treatment live with them for life if not helped.
Some people are forced to work in places they would ordinarily not want to be. They are lured and it becomes a reality soon to them the mess they are into. If they do not co-operate, they are either killed or tortured. Some of them work in high sea where shrimps and sea foods are gotten.
Some persons or young ones are forced into criminal acts like drug delivering, pick-pockets, theft etc.
Some of our young girls or women are forced into marriage against their wish just to gain access to a country or for some benefits
Some children are used as Domestic workers( house-helps) where they are paid little with many hours of work and unfair treatment.
These and many more go under the carpet in our societies today. We got to fight against this inhuman treatment.
IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING.
Report to the necessary groups like Naptip( National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons), an agency fighting trafficking in Nigeria on 07030000203 or 08077225566 or call Religious bodies near you.
Together we can beat this.
